Schoenbaum Center

Holiday Events at Schoenbaum

It’s the holiday season, and many of our tenants are celebrating with events or offering easy ways to make a difference. Here is what’s going on with some of the Schoenbaum Center family of organizations:

Beginning November 16 – EnAct will be collecting “widow socks” (soWidow Socks EnActcks without a mate) for the homeless. Collection barrels can be found at locations throughout their service area, including one at the Schoenbaum Center. Companies can also get their own donation barrel by calling 304.414.4468.

Beginning November 16 – EnAct will be partnering with Kroger Community Rewards to link Kroger Plus cards to support their organization.

Beginning November 16 – Two tenants, EnAct and Big Brothers Big Sisters, will be participating in Amazon Smile. The program allows online shoppers to choose their charity and donates 0.5% of each eligible purpose to charity. If you’re planning to do online holiday shopping anyways, be sure to choose a charity through Smile!

November 19 – Modern Woodmen‘s youth leadership will be distributing a tractor trailer of food donations to those in need in the Kanawha Valley.

November 21 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central WV will host Jingle Bowl for Kids’ Sake at Galaxy Lanes.
There are four different competitions as part of the event that will help fundraise and support the need for mentoring in South Central West Virginia.

How does it work? It’s easy!
1. Form a team of 4 or 5 with your family, friends, co-workers, service clubs, fraternities, sororities, church groups and others.
2. Start collecting pledges from corporate sponsors, friends or family members (each team is encouraged to raise $500.00).
3. Let’s have fun at the Jingle Bowl for Kids’ Sake!

December 6 – Modern Woodmen’s youth leadership club will visit The Greenbrier and assist with the resort’s toy MWA December Youth Eventsdrive. They will help sort and wrap gifts for the less fortunate.

December 10 – The Modern Woodmen Youth Leadership Club Banquet will take place, honoring kids with awards and collecting stuffed animals for the Charleston Police Department to give to kids in crisis.

December 12 – Big Brothers Big Sisters will host their Big Little Holiday Party honoring the program’s participants with a special holiday celebration.
