Schoenbaum Showcase 2015

Our Schoenbaum Showcase this year consisted of three events intended to bring fun and resources into the community: a job fair, family fun day, and the awards ceremony for our Promises of Hope awards.

At the end of the three-day affair, our attendance for the showcase was more than 220 community members who were welcomed into the center for free food, games, and, of course, excellent services provided by our tenants and other community organizations. Our job fair helped more than 50 job-seekers learn about available employment in the greater Charleston area, and our day care center’s families joined other local families at family fun day.

Our Promises of Hope Awards ceremony gave recognition to two incredibly community leaders: Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central West Virginia and Tom Toliver. BBBS’ continued efforts to mentor our community’s youth provide a place for at-risk children to turn and give them the foundations and leadership they need to succeed. Mr. Toliver’s work on Charleston’s West Side has also given youth a place to turn—for education on how to work hard and lead a healthier life. His community garden has planted seeds of hope for the West Side and its residents.

None of these events would be possible without community support, especially those of our sponsors. AEP, our title sponsor, and Comm-Core, our Promises of Hope sponsor, made this event a reality with their generous support.
